Between October 23 and October 26, 2019, every corner of the Federal Palace Hotel, Lagos, looked like a fashion runway as guests for the Heineken Lagos Fashion Week dazzled in stunning outfits.

The four-day event  brought together many of the big names in fashion across Africa like Deola Sagoe, Adama Paris, Maki Oh, Mai Atafo, CLAN, Meena, Sisiano, Ugo Monye, Style Temple and Selly Raby Kane. For 20 minutes on different days, each designer owned the runway, using that time to show-off new collections for their brands.

While day 1 was reserved for the Fashion Business Series, day 2 saw the runway opened up by Orange Culture, which is run by Adebayo Oke-Lawal who has been designing since the age of 10. His display was followed by more showcases from Rick Dusi, Wuman, DZYN, Eki Silk, Idma Nof and Tokyo James. On day 3, Cynthia Abila, Bridget Awosika, Christie Brown, Nkwo and Meite Awa showcased elaborate African print styles while Andrea Iyamah brought her swimwear designs to the runway.

The final day of the fashion show saw over 10 designers including Mai Atafo, Ugo Monye, JZO, Maki Oh, Emmy Kasbit and House of Kaya showcasing their collections. There were also presentations by Larry Jay for the Green Access session and a presentation at the Lagos Space Programme.

Ace designer, Lisa Folawiyo, who had an offsite showcase at the Temple Muse, said she was excited at how much the Lagos Fashion Week has grown and how the African fashion scene has grown with it.

“You can see that everyone brought their A-game and that’s what we want to see,” she said.

“That’s what can help this industry grow rapidly.”

The Brand Manager of the title sponsor; Heineken, Olaoluwa Babalola, said the brand is glad to be sponsoring the event for the fourth year and was excited to help the participants have a great time.
